Course Objectives

This program is designed to teach students the skills necessary for employment as a MA in a medical facility, such as a hospital, clinic or doctor’s office. A qualified MA is capable of performing a wide range of duties, thus assisting the physician in many ways. The program will consist of Administrative and Clinical duties that will be performed in

the classroom as well as in the clinical setting. Clinical duties include: asepsis and infection control, taking patient

histories and vital signs, performing CPR and First Aid, preparing patients for procedures, assisting the physician

with examinations and treatments, collecting specimens and administering and explaining medications as directed by the physician. Administrative duties include: scheduling appointments, taking copays, verifying insurance,

greeting the patients, and sending/receiving medical records.


Medical Assistant Schedule (will adjust schedule for Holidays):

 

Class Time: (Evening)

Classes held on Monday and Wednesday from 5:30pm-10:00pm and Friday 12:30pm-5:30pm x 16 weeks = (224 Hours)

 

Monday - Thursday, 8:00am-12:30pm x 10 weeks =(180 Hours); (off site Externship)

Total Program= 404 Hours


New classes will be posted on website and listed during time of registration. Interested candidates may call at any time for class dates. Class dates are subject to change and students will be notified via phone regarding changes. A minimum of 2 people per class is required for class to be offered.

REGISTRATION FEE: $50.00

ADMINISTRATIVE FEE: $100.00

·         Uniform and jacket (lavender – Obtain from Palmetto Uniform in Florence, SC)

·         Blood pressure meter (sphygmomanometers)

Payment Options:

All payments are due on the 1st of the month. After the 5th day of the month a late payment of a $35 will be applied.

 

Half & Half Plan:

This plan allows students to pay half of the total program cost in the amount of $2832.50. The remaining balance of $2832.50 will be due the first Monday of class.

                                                                              

Delay Your Pay Plan:

This plan allows students to have their name on our waiting list. The student can delay their class start date by paying a $3500.00 down and making 4 additional schedule payments of $541.25 until total program costs are paid.

 

Sponsorships:

Private funds from agencies are accepted. No financial aid is permitted. PTC is currently supported by SC Works (WIOA funding) for those who meet WIOA qualifications. To find out eligibility requirements please visit their respective offices or contact us.
